COULD a pay rise be on the cards for Upper Thames Rowing Club’s captain Justin Sutherland?
Shortly before the regatta, Mr Sutherland was appointed to a new salaried role as the club’s director of rowing.
He was previously giving up his time as a volunteer coach so the club wanted to make his position more sustainable.
Following Upper Thames’ first ever regatta wins on Sunday, he was asked whether this marked the dawn of a new era for the club.
Justin joked: “Well, I think it should herald the start of a significant new bonus structure being put in place on Monday morning!”
