WELL done to Anne and Edward Sandars, a Henley couple who have been volunteering at the Sue Ryder hospice in Nettlebed for more than 13 years.
Anne was a staff nurse at the hospice before becoming a volunteer and when Edward retired as a solicitor he followed suit. They helped set up the Sue Ryder wills week and, as keen cyclists, started the annual fund-raising cycle ride. They also support the hospice’s annual Lights of Love service.
Anne says: “I had the real privilege of working as a staff nurse and know how much need there is in the community for the care we give and the essential support the families need, both during illness and after it.
“The work of all the dedicated volunteers helps to make this happen.”
Moira Logie, regional fund-raiser, says she has been struck by the couple’s passion for giving something back and adds: “Our volunteer support is absolutely priceless.”
