A MORRIS dancer came to the rescue when a woman locked herself in the public toilets in King’s Road car park in Henley.
The hero is thought to have been a member of Phoenix Morris, from Rickmansworth, who were among five Morris teams on their annual visit to Henley on Tuesday last week.
Michael Harvey, of New Street, witnessed the incident at about 9.30pm.
He said: “I had just left Waitrose with my shopping when I heard a thud coming from the toilets by the library. I looked and saw a Morris man heaving his shoulder against one of the doors in the middle of the building.
“At first I thought he’d had too many real ales and was just trying to get in but then I saw it was the ladies’ loo. He hit the door two or three times before it finally gave way and a lady came out. I don’t know if they knew each other but she would have been spending the night in that toilet if he hadn’t stepped in.”
