DOES anyone remember the Victoria pub in Henley in the early Sixties when it was run by a couple called Bill and Ethel Benson?
The reason is their granddaughter Pauline McMullan is trying to find people who remember her mother, Jeannette, who died tragically in 1964.
Pauline, who now lives in Edinburgh, explains: “My grandparents took over the lease of the Queen Victoria in December 1959. I believe then it was called the the Victoria.
“My parents moved with them to work in the pub, as did my mum’s older brother Bill. My family had come from Southall and moving to Henley was the start of a wonderful life for them all.
“I was born just after they moved and had a very happy time there. My parents separated shortly after this and my dad moved out but I have so many wonderful memories of living in the flat above the pub with my mum, my grandparents and Uncle Bill.
