Restless waters...

HAVE you ever wondered who those innocent-looking boaters on the Thames are?

Well, according to a new novel, they are anything from furtive criminals to people involved in a romantic dalliance.

Restless Waters by newcomer Duncan Shepherd features a number of colourful characters in different boats who are brought together simply by being on the river in late August.

Shepherd draws on his own boating experience — he built his own day boat in his garage as a retirement project and now uses it on the waterways across Britain.

He says: “I focused the book on the Thames because its nature allows a greater variety of craft and gives rise to broader possibilities in the action.
