Theatre legends grace new Sherlock premiere

A NUMBER of well-known theatrical names attended the premiere of the new Sherlock Holmes play To Kill A Canary at the Kenton Theatre in Henley last week.

Among them were actress and singer Liz Robertson, the widow of Alan Jay Lerner, who has performed in West End and Broadway productions including The Phantom of the Opera.

Also present were fellow actors Louise Jameson, who is probably best known for her appearances in Dr Who, Tenko and EastEnders, and Upstairs, Downstairs star Simon Williams, who lives at Bix.

The final name was Gillian Lynne, the ballerina, actress and choreographer known for her choreography of the musicals Cats and The Phantom of the Opera.

She was there to see her husband Peter Land, who plays the starring role in the production, and will be back for the final night of the run tomorrow night before it moves to the West End.
