READERS may recall town councillor Joan Bland comparing Henley’s miniature Christmas trees scheme unfavourably with Marlow’s festive decorations.
Councillor Bland, who owns Asquiths teddy bear shop on the corner of Bell Street and New Street, called the mini trees “silly” and said: “When you look at Marlow, it’s so sophisticated.”
Well, now it seems the boot is on the other foot.
There is considerable upset in our neighbouring market town at plans by the town council to close the tourist information office and merge it with the service at the library.
According to the Marlow Free Press, Marlovians say the town is losing out in the tourist stakes to Henley.
