SIXTH Form at the Abbey School is very much based around the idea of a community, with upper and lower sixth girls mixing both in the centre and in tutor groups.
At the core of the sixth form is a focus on producing happy, determined and positive individuals.
It is a place where students are actively encouraged to flourish and achieve their full potential. In 2015 72 per cent of A-levels were graded A* or A and the average score in the International Baccalaureate was 29 points, with one girl achieving the full 45 points.
Our sixth form students benefit from a very personal and highly specialised level of teaching, academic and pastoral support as they develop their individual talents and understanding. Outside the classroom there are enormous opportunities to develop leadership skills, perhaps through the Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award programme or by organising interest clubs for younger girls.
Young Enterprise allows girls to hone their business awareness, while social activities ranging from trips to London and Brighton and the hotly anticipated Celebration Ball create a fun and friendly atmosphere that is highly valued by the girls.
Year on year, Abbey students achieve places at the top universities in the UK and abroad and the vibrant extracurricular life helps shape balanced and positive young adults.
Meet our current sixth form students and find out about life in the sixth form at our open evening from 5.30pm on Thursday (October 15).
