MANY parents will be thinking about how to get their pre-school child ready for “big school” as they head towards the start of the new school year in September.
If your child has attended a good pre-school class, they should find the transition much smoother and there are some small things you can do with them to ease this further.
Firstly, talk to them lots about moving to school and how exciting it is going to be. Try to avoid any anxiety which you may feel yourself from creeping into the conversation.
Reassure them that everyone will be new, like them, and that it is normal to be a bit nervous.
Make sure you get organised early with uniform and let them wear it when they want to, before they start school itself.
