Pupils enjoy Polish festival

Pupils at St Mary’s School took part in a traditional Polish festival.

The reception class at the school in St Andrew’s Road, Henley held a celebration of St Andrew’s Eve last Thursday (28) as one of their pupils, five-year-old Sofia Mason, is half-Polish.

The children in the class took part in a number of activities based around fortune-telling, including dropping wax into a glass of water and seeing what shape it took.

Five-year-old Ben Woodbridge thought it looked like a dinosaur tooth, while Tommy Lane, five, said it was a swimming elephant and Ella Shraga, four, decided it resembled a crocodile.

They were then treated to some Polish snacks made by Sofia’s mother Patricia, including mince pies and breadsticks.
