Where every student excels

HEMDEAN House offers affordable independent education with a friendly and calm working environment. They have class sizes of approximately 16 boys and girls in the junior school and 12 girls in the senior school.

At Hemdean House, great emphasis is placed on pastoral care. Staff seek to identify, nurture and celebrate each child’s gifts and talents within a caring community based on Christian values. They cherish their multi-cultural, multi-faith environment and develop an active partnership with parents, recognising that only with a full understanding of their child’s personality will they be able to make their learning a true adventure.

They get to know every individual member of the school community and children’s confidence grows with support and guidance from dedicated and experienced teaching staff. Many pupils achieve level 5 in English and Maths at the end of Year 6 and gain places in their first choice of senior schools, including Kendrick and Reading Schools. GCSE results continue to be excellent — this year 43 per cent of GCSE grades were A/A* and 88 per cent were C grade or above. When pupils leave, they are well-equipped for the next stage of their education.

Hemdean House School is in Hemdean Road, Caversham. Call 0118 947 2590, email office@hemdean or visit
