PARENTS of children at Benson Primary School are being encouraged to promote a healthy lifestyle to their offspring.
They were asked to leave their cars in the parish hall car park in Sunnyside and make the rest of the 600-yard journey to the school in Oxford Road on foot.
The move was part of Walk to School Week, a national initiative.
Headteacher Helen Crolla said: “It’s to highlight that there are alternative ways to come to school that are healthy for the children and enable them to enjoy their local area and are environmentally friendly.
“We want to promote walking and to highlight to parents safe routes for doing that. I see the children skipping into school, which is great. We have got some lovely lanes going through the village and it’s been good to see them walking in.
