Students raise equality awareness

STUDENTS at The Henley College performed at a music event to raise awareness about equality.

Performing arts students took part along with teacher and professional musician Steve Morano.

The event also featured stalls by college groups including the Amnesty International Youth Group, the International Affairs Discussion Group, the library and LGBT groups.

A Buddhist nun gave an introductory talk and session on meditation.

There was also a range of world foods and the Pathways department held a raffle and sold potted plants and hanging baskets made by the students.

Beryl Richardson, manager responsible for equality and diversity, said: “The event is an opportunity for the students and staff to celebrate difference and to embrace the diverse culture of the college. We offer a wide range of activities in support of an inclusive community and students are actively encouraged to get involved and participate.”

The college has achieved Investors in Diversity recognition at stages one and two and is working towards Leaders in Diversity. The event was in aid of Breast Cancer Care and the Pathways department.
