THE headteacher of Icknield Community College in Watlington says he is optimistic about plans for a new sixth form.
Mat Hunter spoke after releasing the results of two consultations into the Love Lane school’s plan to take post-16 A-level students for the academic year beginning in September.
An informal consultation that took place in June and July attracted 42 positive responses and one which was neutral. A second, formal exercise held in September attracted a handful of responses, all of which were in favour.
Mr Hunter and senior assistant headteacher James Barringer are to meet Melinda Tilley, Oxfordshire County Council’s cabinet member for children, education and families, on November 3 to discuss the idea.
He said: “Based on the consultation responses, we’re feeling quite optimistic.
