CRANFORD HOUSE is an independent day school for boys aged three to seven and girls aged three to 16. Established in 1931, the school has grown steadily and now totals around 390 pupils.
Acting headmistress, Mrs Lin Lawson, is very clear about its aim. She said: “The strong family feel to Cranford House, underpinned by our broad, well-balanced education, motivates all pupils to achieve their full potential. This nurturing approach ensures they develop into happy, confident individuals, able to challenge themselves, and to seize life’s opportunities, whilst also understanding the importance of mutual respect and support for others.”
Achievements are big in this small, close-knit community. Academic performance regularly puts Cranford House in the top 10 Oxfordshire schools’ GCSE league tables and many leavers gain scholarships to leading sixth form establishments in the spheres of music, sport, art and drama. Set in more than 14 acres of rural South Oxfordshire, Cranford House is making significant infrastructure investments with a new nursery, Little Willows, opening in September 2013. A new sports hall is currently under construction and a performing arts centre is to follow.
