THREE girls from Peppard Primary School took part in a spelling bee.

Year 6 pupils Lillibeth Biggin, Kitty Powell and Christina Berry took part in the firs-ever spelling bee at Queen Anne’s School in Caversham.

School teams from across the South of England took part.

The girls finished second in a quick fire round, while Kitty also came third in the individual event.

Lillibeth said: “It was really nerve racking, particularly when the person just before you was having their turn.”

Christina added: “It was a great afternoon out and I would definitely recommend it to anyone.”

Headteacher Nick Steele said: “The children had a fantastic time and the fact that they got a good result was the icing on the cake for their first spelling bee.”
