A TEAM from the Hill Primary School in Caversham won third prize at the English Schools Table Tennis Championships zonal finals.

Five boys from years 5 and 6 travelled to London to take on the best players from neighbouring counties in the South-East.

The team qualified for the semi-final after finishing second in their group and only narrowly missed out on a place in the final.

Headteacher Dawn Cox said: "Our team had a thoroughly enjoyable time, gained some experience of a different sport and represented the school and Berkshire honourably at a national championship.

"Huge thanks must go to the parents of all five boys."
