Unique day prep that does things differently

AT Dolphin School we value the importance of learning through doing and getting our children out

AT Dolphin School we value the importance of learning through doing and getting our children out into the real world to provide unique and challenging experiences that will enable them to make rich connections across different areas of our curriculum.

Exposing pupils to the specific passions of subject-specialist teachers at an early age and small class sizes are very much part of our ethos.

So are valuing and nurturing the individual, promoting kindness above all and instilling a love of learning in our children.

Tom Lewis, Dolphin’s new head, says: “I am very proud of what our school achieves.

“We produce happy and fulfilled children who are inspired by their learning and by a desire to make the lives of others better.”

Dolphin today is a thriving and unique co-educational day prep school that still dares to do things differently.

At the very heart of our curriculum is an educational trip programme, which provides excellent opportunities for our children to learn about the cultural wonders of the British Isles. Our walking trips supplement this and enable our children to develop and hone important life skills that will stand them in good stead in the future.

Pupils throughout the school also enjoy our day trip programme through which much of the broad curriculum that the school teaches is delivered.

Mindfulness and the value of reflective thought are encouraged and children leave us to go to a wide variety of senior schools, having had a wonderful start in life, equipped with the skills of independence, fortitude, reflection and ambition.

Our Old Delphinians keep in close contact and frequently return to tell us what a transformative part of their lives their Dolphin education has been.

One said: “Dolphin is like a great film, except it actually happened.”

Dolphin School is situated in the rural Berkshire village of Hurst.
