A group of 24 year 11 students from Gillotts School in Henley went to Berlin for four days at the beginning of September. Staying in a hotel next to the main station, they were ideally placed to visit all the main sights of the city.
There was a very moving tour of Sachsenhausen, the concentration camp, and Hohenschoenhausen, the prison used by the Stasi during the Cold War and featured in the film
The Lives of Others.
They also saw what remained of the Berlin Wall in the East Side Gallery and at the memorial to the wall. It was an amazing few days and an unforgettable experience, said German teacher Catharine Davidsion.
