Framework provides a foundation for life

MANY schools will claim that they will help your child to reach his or her full potential.

MANY schools will claim that they will help your child to reach his or her full potential.

At Shiplake, we do not believe that any child should have reached their full potential by the age of 18! Rather, we believe in equipping our young people with the skills and a desire for knowledge that will enable them to continue to develop and flourish well into adulthood.

Linked to fostering and developing such key interpersonal qualities has been the establishment of a teaching and learning framework, known as the Shiplake Seven.

The seven qualities not only provide a solid foundation for pupils to achieve success throughout their education, but also gives our leavers the skills they need to enter the next stage of their lives as confident, personable and talented young adults.

The framework is integrated across the academic and co-curriculum, allowing the seven qualities to be nurtured inside and outside the classroom.

Whilst these skills were already being developed by our excellent teaching and learning across the curriculum, this framework has provided fresh energy and direction and allows pupils’ personal development to be more comprehensively encouraged, monitored and rewarded.
