The Oratory School in Woodcote organised a jazz day for prep schools in the area. Mark Armstrong, director of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, gave guidance to 35 youngsters who played saxophones, trumpets, flutes, oboes, drums and bass guitars. This was followed by the school’s Hopkins Society’s jazz evening, which had a Mardi Gras theme. Performers included a jazz band from the Oratory Prep School in Goring Heath and the Oratory’s own big band, who were accompanied by Mr Armstrong and teacher Phil Chaundy.
