Ex-head in court

THE former headteacher of Highdown School in Emmer Green has denied fraud.

Tim Royle, 64, of Hollington Lane, Woolton Hill, Hampshire, pleaded not guilty to three charges of fraud involving more than £8,000 when he appeared at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday. He also denied the theft of school computers, cameras and a toaster.

His case was sent to Reading Crown Court for a preliminary hearing next month and he was granted unconditional bail.

Royle left the Surley Row school in December 2012 after 14 years.
