Officers step down

POLICING in Henley sets the standard for the rest of the country, claim two long-serving officers who have stepped down.

Julie Greenough and Vicky Sims, who between them worked in the town for almost 50 years, say close ties to the community are the best tool for fighting crime.

Mrs Greenough, 50, retired in July after almost 27 years as a constable at Henley police station.

Pc Sims, who joined Thames Valley Police in 1991 and came to Henley in 1994, also left the neighbourhood team that month.

The 47-year-old is still a warranted officer and now teaches recruits at the force’s training centre in Sulhamstead near Newbury.
