HENLEY rider Anna Wilks triumphed at the FEI Junior European Championships at Yorkshire’s Bishop Burton College last weekend.
Riding on Touch of Pleasure, 17-year-old Wilks was crowned individual junior European champion following a week of competition.
With no room for mistakes in the showjumping phase, as Ireland’s Cathal Daniels and Rioghan Rua sat just 1.3 penalties behind in silver, Wilks and Touch of Pleasure, owned by Jenifer Gilbey, produced an immaculate clear round to clinch the title, finishing on their dressage score of 41.2.
Speaking about her horse after the win, the former Piggott School pupil said: “He was amazing, I could not have asked any more of him, he produced a fantastic dressage mark and was then faultless in both of the jumping phases.
“It is even more special because my grandmother bought him as a four-year old and I have produced him since then, he truly is a once in a lifetime horse. I couldn’t be more proud of him.
