Nostalgic trip down memory lane in Legoland's Miniland

Legoland Windsor is celebrating its 30th birthday year with a brand-new Miniland display called 1996 High Street.

As it sounds, the display turns back the clock to the year the attraction first opened to the public. 

The nostalgic scene is packed with familiar details and playful surprises, including mini 90s pop bands, shop fronts, pick ‘n’ mix stands, and 1996 football scenes.

The build took the team of model makers more than 171 hours to create.

In a special throwback moment, 90s children’s TV presenter Pat Sharp joined the team as an honorary model maker and helped put the final Lego pieces in place.

Among other work, he hosted the children's ITV programme Fun House, a game show which ran for 10 years, from 1989 until 1999.

Speaking about the experience at Legoland, Sharp said: “Stepping in as the honorary model maker to add the finishing touches to ‘1996 High Street’ is pure 90s magic.

“I can’t wait for families to see it and relive that ‘wow’ moment from the year the attraction first opened.”

The 1996 High Street will be on display in Miniland for the remainder of the year, until December.
