New music and beer festival

A NEW beer and music festival will be held at Woodcote Primary School on Sunday May 5.

Attractions will include a bar selling real ale, craft beers and gin as well as a barbecue and live music by local bands.

There will also be children’s activities, including face painting, a bouncy castle and various games and stalls.

The proceeds will go to the school, Woodcote Pre-School and the Cabin Pre-School.

The event is the idea of James Tomlinson, of Croft Way, Woodcote, whose children Lucy, nine, and Freddie, four, attend the school.

Mr Tomlinson, who is sales director at the West Berkshire Brewery in Yattendon, suggested it to a group of fellow dads and they agreed to help.

He said: “We’re doing it at quite short notice and I think a lot of the dads are realising it’s not as easy as it sounds but everything’s on track and it should be good fun.

“We just wanted to organise a fun afternoon to bring the community together and hopefully raise a bit of money. We’re looking forward to it.

“Hopefully, we’ll be able to make it an annual thing. If we can get a few hundred people down, that would be a very promising start.”

The event will run from 3pm to 9pm and participants should bring chairs and blankets.

Tickets cost £5. To book, visit www.woodcotebeer
