THE former landlady of the pub in Crazies Hill presided over a quiz night at the village hall.
Sandra Bernard, who left the Horns last month after four years, asked the questions at the event, which was organised by Crazies Hill and Cockpole Green Residents’ Association. The hall was decorated in red, white and blue as theme of the quiz was Great Britain.
More than 40 residents in six teams competed in the seven rounds, with topics including history, geography and dingbats about British towns and cities as well as a picture round and one where they had to name types of biscuits by tasting crumbs. They were served cold meat and cheese platters prepared by Laura Lord and Clare Donovan at the half-way point.
The quiz was won by a team called Premier Cru with 70 points, six-and-a-half more than the joint runners-up, Kings College Cambridge and Norfolk and Chance. The winners shared their prize of a tin of sweets with the other contestants.
Dave Smith, of the association, said: “Special thanks to all the residents who turned out to support this event. The money raised will be used by the association towards the upkeep of Cockpole Green.”
