AN open-air church service and battle of the bands contest are among the attractions at a new event in Henley over the bank holiday weekend.
Hope for Henley has been organised by Henley Baptist Church and youth and community project Nomad, which are both based at d:two in Market Place, and will feature events today (Friday) and on Saturday and Sunday.
The activities will kick off this afternoon with a family fun day at Freeman’s Meadow, off Fair Mile, where there will be a climbing wall and team games. Tonight, there will be a battle of the bands contest for young musicians and a club night at d:two.
Tomorrow, there will be gardening at the playground in Freeman’s Meadow from 1pm to 4pm and car washing will take place at the Christ Church centre car park in Reading Road. There will be musical performances at d:two from 7.30pm to 9.30pm.
On Sunday, there will be an open-air church service at the bandstand in Mill Meadows from 10.30am to noon. This will be followed by a barbecue from 12.30pm to 3pm.
