ORGANISERS of the Henley Literary Festival want a marquee in the town centre during the event.
Founder Sue Ryan says she needs a larger space to hold spectators and attract bigger names as the autumn festival is growing in popularity.
In a letter to the town council, she suggested having the marquee in either Falaise Square or Mill Meadows.
Mrs Ryan said: “At present, our two largest venues are the Christ Church Centre and the Kenton Theatre, which hold 300 and 230 respectively.
“A marquee would allow us to have a capacity of around 500 to 600, which in turn would help us to attract even bigger names. Many publishers will only send authors if they would be appearing in front of an audience of 500 or more.”
