Henley May Fair has baking competition

THIS year’s May fair in Henley will be held in Mill Meadows on bank holiday Monday, May 5, from noon to 5pm.

The event, which is organised by Henley Round Table, will include live music from Mythical Men, entertainment and activities all afternoon.

There will be a May king and queen fancy dress competition by the bandstand at 2.30pm and a children’s baking competition with four categories - big cake, biscuits, tray bake and cupcakes. Entries should be dropped off at the Round Table marquee by 2pm.

Both competitions will be judged by the Mayor Stefan Gawrysiak and Nick Woodthorpe, chairman of Henley Round Table. The results and prizes will be announced at about 3.30pm.

Other attractions will include ferret racing, Morris dancing, a bouncy castle and fairground attractions as well as a duck derby run by Henley Lions Club.

Local charities, organisations and businesses will be running stalls. Beer, Pimm’s and soft drinks will be on sale in a marquee.
