ABOUT 300 rowers, spectators and stewards attended the royal regatta church service on Sunday.
St Mary’s Church in Hart Street was packed and extra chairs had to be put out.
Among those present were Henley Mayor Martin Akehurst and five-time Olympic champion Sir Steve Redgrave.
The service was conducted by the Rev Canon Martyn Griffiths, rector of St Mary’s, and the sermon was given by the Right Rev Norman Banks, Bishop of Richborough.
The lesson was read by regatta chairman Mike Sweeney, who is due to retire in December after 22 years.
