SIR STEVE REDGRAVE invited some of his fellow contestants from celebrity TV reality show The Jump to soak up the atmosphere at Henley Royal Regatta.
The five-time Olympic gold medallist, who is vice-chairman of the regatta, took part in the Channel 4 winter sports programme in December but was forced to withdraw before the end due to injury.
On Thursday last week, he was joined in the stewards’ enclosure by contestants including actor and former boy band singer Ritchie Neville, singer Sinitta, hairdresser Nicky Clarke and party organiser Henry Conway.
Former Olympic skier Graham Bell, who coached the celebrities during the programme, was also there — but he didn’t have far to go from his home in New Street.
Sir Steve revealed why The Jump was the one reality TV show he had agreed to take part in. He said: “I have been asked to do all of them over the years and turned them down but skiing is close to my heart. I love it and I have done some of the other winter sports before so for me it was a no-brainer.
