Review - From top to bottom

DAWN O’Porter isn’t ashamed of her short-lived stint as the face of Andrex Washlets.

In fact, this woman of many talents — presenter, novelist, designer, blogger, columnist and breast cancer campaigner — credits her appearance in the adverts as the rock-bottom moment that helped re-boot her career.

The 36-year-old, who is expecting her first child with Irish actor Chris O’Dowd, discussed the difficult transition from success in her twenties to a career low in her thirties during a frank and funny conversation with Emma Freud.

Freud’s interview with O’Porter covered everything from the death of her mother from breast cancer when she was seven, to the moment when Brad Pitt held on to her hand at an awards ceremony while talking to someone else.

She also talked candidly about the “soul-destroying” career slump in her thirties, when work had dried up and she found herself broke and living in LA, a period which ended in therapy.
