Pre-school’s rescheduled egg hunt raises £2,400

AN Easter Egg hunt raised more than £2,400 for Kidmore End Pre-School.

AN Easter Egg hunt raised more than £2,400 for Kidmore End Pre-School.

Almost 200 children took part in the event, which had been rescheduled following poor weather, at Gallowstree Common sports field on Sunday. There was a bouncy castle, ice cream van, home-made cakes, barbecue and a silent auction with items donated by local businesses.

Elizabeth Chandler, who chairs the pre-school, said it was a family occasion, adding: “It’s always a great event in the pre-school calendar.

“The sun shining added to the occasion and was a huge relief as three weeks before we had to postpone due to freezing temperatures and snow.

“We are so lucky with the support we receive from local businesses and parents. Without them, this event wouldn’t be possible.”

The proceeds will go towards more equipment and facilities. “These resources help to make the children’s first steps into education fun and seamless,” said Mrs Chandler.

Rachel Schmidt, fund-raising officer for the pre-school, said there was a lovely atmosphere on the day.
