FOR only the second time in the Oratory School’s history, the boat club will be entering two eights into this year’s Henley Royal Regatta, demonstrating both the depth and development that has been made this year.
The first eight have entered the Princess Elizabeth Cup in which 32 crews from around the world will compete along the one mile, 550 yard stretch of the Thames, over five days of intense racing.
The crew finished seventh at the National Schools Regatta and have been handed a place in Saturday’s draw, avoiding today’s (Friday) qualifying races.
The crew is made up of a combination of upper sixth, lower sixth and J16 oarsmen that have proved themselves throughout the year in testing, both on and off the water.
Meanwhile a young second eight, who will be taking part in today’s qualifying races, have made good progress this year under the watchful eye of their assistant coach, Olympic medallist Alex Partridge.
This Oratory School crew will be competing in the Temple Cup, an event usually dominated by top universities.
