Lit Fest events sell out on launch day

THE Henley Literary Festival got off to a record start with several events selling out on the first day of tickets going on general sale on Wednesday.

THE Henley Literary Festival got off to a record start with several events selling out on the first day of tickets going on general sale on Wednesday.

Among the authors whose talks sold out were Kate Adie, Giles Coren, Deborah Moggach, Matthew d?Ancona, Stella Rimington and the Countess of Canarvon.

Festival director Sue Ryan said: ?As well as online sales, the phones are ringing off the hook, which is a great endorsement for the breadth of this year?s programme.

?Everyone has been very patient, which speaks volumes for our audience.?

The festival will take place from September 30 to October 6. For tickets, call 0118 972 4700 (10am to 2pm Monday to Friday) or visit www.henleyliteraryfestival.co.uk. Tomorrow (Saturday), there will be a box office and information desk in Henley Market Place from 10am to 3pm.
