Text On Sunday 8 December Rob Wilson MP joined in with festivities at Mapledurham Christmas Fayre. The event was in aid of rebuilding Mapledurham Pavilion and was organised by the Warren & District Residents’ Association (WADRA).
Rob said “I was delighted to support this latest fund raising event by the very well organised group of local residents spearheaded by Elisa Miles and Carey Munn of WADRA.
“I met Rosemary Muirhead who had taken the plunge, having a stand for the first time ever to sell her beautiful pottery. Sandy Onofrio’s dainty cakes were stunning and there were lots of delicious mince pies and cakes on offer as well as stands with Christmas decorations and presents.”
Mapledurham ward councillor Isobel Ballsdon and Thames ward councillor Ed Hopper manned the chocolate tombola, one little girl, Millie McDonnell, coming back a few times until she managed to scoop the biggest chocolate prize of the day. Millie was thrilled!
WADRA and supporting clubs have raised over £40,000 over the last three years towards rebuilding the Pavilion. A Virgin Money Giving site has been set up with the help of Reading Borough Council officers to take advantage of reclaiming gift tax.
