William Lovatt, a year seven pupil at Shiplake College built a large motte-and-bailey castle model over his half-term holiday.

William has been studying medieval castles in history lessons and based his design on what he has learned during lessons and from his own internet research using papier-mâché, chicken wire and wood. History teacher Liam Morgan said: “I am hugely impressed with William’s efforts to create a castle William the Conqueror would be proud of. It is great to see he has a passion for history and I hope this continues over the years to come.”
