READERS of our December 19 edition may remember the front page story about a baby girl born nine weeks premature
READERS of our December 19 edition may remember the front page story about a baby girl born nine weeks premature and given just a 10 per cent chance of survival being able to go home for the first time on Christmas Day.
I am pleased to report that Ariella Skeete did indeed spend the big day at home in Woodcote with her parents Megan Rees and Renado Skeete and Megan’s mother Michelle and sister Ami.
Ariella weighed just 2lb 2oz when she was born on May 30 and has been at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford ever since and has had four operations on her windpipe, jaw and cleft palate.
The family had Christmas dinner at the house in Goring Road before returning Ariella to the hospital in the evening but her parents hope they will be able to bring her home permanently later this month.
Megan said: “We had a lovely day, even though it was a little bittersweet as we knew she had to go back to hospital. Ariella really came out of her shell and was so well behaved.”
