Eighties pop show back for seventh summer

HENLEY singer Carol Decker will once again appear at this year’s Rewind festival.

HENLEY singer Carol Decker will once again appear at this year’s Rewind festival.

She will be among a string of Eighties pop stars to perform at the event which will be held at Temple Island Meadows in August for the seventh year running.

Other acts to appear include ABC, Altered Images, Belinda Carlisle, the Human League, Hot Chocolate, OMD, The Selecter, Kid Creole, Kim Wilde and the British Electric Foundation.

Decker, who will be performing with her band, T’Pau, last appeared at Rewind in 2012.

Festival founder David Heartfield, from Rotherfield Greys, said: “We have probably got one of the best line-ups of Eighties electronic music around.



“The British Electric Foundation was set up by Martyn Ware of Heaven 17 and they have not done Rewind before.

“They will be performing with The Noisettes’ Shingai Shoniwa, Joy Division’s Peter Hook, Thomas Dolby and others and will perform their songs and also cover versions.”

About 40,000 people will attend the festival, which will take place from Friday to Sunday, August 21 to 23.

Tickets went on general sale from 9am today (Friday) at the Regal Cinema in Boroma Way, Henley, and at www.rewindfestival.com

Saturday: ABC; Altered Images; Belinda Carlisle; Billy Ocean; Black Box; Hot Chocolate; Go West; Joe Lynne Turner; Kid Creole; Kim Wilde; OMD; Slim Jim Phantom from Stray Cats.

Sunday: Bananarama; British Electric Foundation; the Noisettes’ Shingai Shoniwa; Joy Division’s Peter Hook; Heaven 17’s Glenn Gregory; Thomas Dolby; Fairground Attraction’s Eddi Reader; M’s Robin Scott; the Human League; Hue & Cry; Nik Kershaw; Midge Ure; Dave Edmunds; the Selecter; Soul II Soul; T’Pau.
