Henley Fringe to concentrate on film

THE Henley Fringe festival is to concentrate on film this year

THE Henley Fringe festival is to concentrate on film this year.

Festival founder Jo Southwell says the move follows several failed funding applications.

She said: ?The Fringe is a charity and as such we are dependent on the generosity of business arts funding and donations in kind.

?We have secured the funding that will create the second film festival in conjunction with the Regal Picturehouse and we will still host some key events under the Fringe banner.?

The Fringe, which began seven years ago, is designed to create a week of entertainment and to allow young people to experience the industry, gain valuable knowledge and help move them on to the next stage of their career. It introduced film for the first time last year.

Mrs Southwell said: ?The film festival will equally create many opportunities for internships, sponsorship and advertising as well as a platform for film-makers.?

She is currently working on the production of her first feature film, which is to be shot later this year. A read-through was held at King?s Arms Barn in December.

Mrs Southwell said: ?If there are any local businesses that are interested in investing in film then we would love to hear from them.?

This year?s festival will take place from September 4 to 6. For more information, visit www.henleyfringe.org
