STREET pastors handed out water and sweets to late-night revellers during the regatta.
Groups of eight to 10 volunteers spent each night from Wednesday to Saturday last week in the town centre tending to intoxicated visitors.
They handed out lollipops to help restore people?s blood sugar levels as well as bottled water. Women who had taken off their high heels were given flip-flops.
The pastors, many of whom had travelled from Reading, Wallingford and Abingdon, gathered at the d:two Centre in Market Place at 9.30pm each day and stayed out until 3.30am.
Roger Cole, pastor at Henley Baptist Church, said: ?We were very busy. It was the first time we have done this and all the street pastors came back very excited and feeling like they had helped a lot of people.
"The police would radio the pastors if anyone was in trouble and needed taking care of. The police seemed very pleased to have them on board."
