Buddies plant spring bulbs on roundabout

HENLEY in Bloom’s Gardening Buddies planted spring bulbs at an entrance roundabout to the town.

HENLEY in Bloom’s Gardening Buddies planted spring bulbs at an entrance roundabout to the town.

Five volunteers put in a mixture of daffodils and yellow and purple crocuses on the island in Reading Road, near Tesco. The bulbs will flower in the spring before the plants in the neighbouring beds.

Paul Terroni, a landscape specialist who redesigned the roundabout earlier this year, helped with the planting on Saturday.

Elizabeth Hodgkin, who organises the Buddies, said: “This really completes the new look and will give it a nice bit of spring colour. It is a very eye-catching design and I think next year it will look even better.”

Mr Terroni, from Abingdon, said: “These new bulbs will be a nice way to start the year. I can’t wait to see how it looks after another full season of growth.”

The team also planted alliums at the flower bed in Reading Road, opposite the entrance to Newtown Road.
