Fantastic fireworks show in the fog

HEAVY fog failed to dampen the celebratory mood at Camp Mohawk’s annual bonfire and fireworks display.

HEAVY fog failed to dampen the celebratory mood at Camp Mohawk’s annual bonfire and fireworks display.

Dozens of families attended the show at the day centre for disabled children near Wargrave on Monday evening.

There was also a “quiet” display for children who are not comfortable with loud noises on Sunday.

Centre manager Chris Wilcox said: “It was a fantastic couple of evenings. It was wonderful to see so many children and families enjoying the place at nighttime and the atmosphere was electric. The fog made for a unique display as it magnified the explosions over a huge area and fireworks went off at surprise times since we could not see them fly up into the sky.”

The fireworks were provided by Neville Burbage of Starfield Fireworks while hot food including jacket potatoes, hot dogs and burgers was served by JJ Catering.

Mr Wilcox said: “Nev also put on the display on Sunday night. He is incredible and worked hard to ensure that the fireworks that he selected were as quiet as possible, even thinking on his feet when a loud one went off to not set off the rest of that batch.”

The event was sponsored by Courtiers.
