AUDIENCE participation was key to night 20 of the Henley Living Advent Calendar.
Children told "cracker jokes" and took part in word games and colouring activities inside the D:2 Centre at the Henley Baptist Church yesterday (Sunday).
David Freeman, a member of the congregation, gave a reading of the traditional Nativity story, supported by characters Mary and Joseph, to an audience of about 150 people.
Sue Prior, leader of youth and community group Nomad, and pastor Roger Cole acted as comperes for the event and carried out their own version of the Henley Standard's weekly "Take Five" feature, asking the audience what Christmas means to them.
One of the joke-tellers was Eddie Rodway, eight, son of calendar organiser Richard. He asked the audience: "What do you get when a Snowman meets a shark? Frostbite."
As mince pies, cake, popcorn and drink were served the event ended with a flash mob sing-a-long of O Come All Ye Faithful.
Tonight's performance will be staged at Henley Cricket Club, off Matson Drive.
