THE best vantage points to see this year’s Henley summer fireworks tomorrow (Saturday) will be Phyllis Court Club, Henley Bridge and Thames Side in Henley.
The fireworks were saved after a successful appeal to raise £10,000 for the running costs and a new venue was found.
Henley Town Council agreed to donate up to £3,000 while the remainder was raised by volunteers.
The fireworks will now be launched at about 10pm from the hillside overlooking Temple Island Meadows, Remenham.
The Copas Partnership, which owns the land, gave permission at the request of Lady McAlpine, of Fawley Hill, who is a long-standing supporter of the event.
It says it will consider a long-term arrangement as long as there are no problems this year.
Town councillor Will Hamilton, who was one of the volunteers, said: “The funding has been put in place thanks to the generosity of the people of the town.”
Henley’s sea cadets will be collecting on boats and volunteers will be holding a bucket collection to raise money for next year’s fireworks.
