Seasons captured in pictures for fifth library calendar

Seasons captured in pictures for fifth library calendar

THE Friends of Watlington Library’s 2024 calendar has been launched.

It features 12 photographs taken by local people following a competition.

The winning images were selected from more than 100 entries by photographer Ruth Morris.

This year marks the fifth anniversary of the calendar, which raises money for the library.

Anna Tilley, chairwoman of FOWL, said: “Our aim was to create a calendar that encapsulates the feel of the seasons in Watlington as we move through the year, from the frost of the winter to the bluebells of spring, the richness of the summer landscapes to the crispness of autumn.

“We are delighted with this, our fifth calendar. It is great to see so many new photographers’ names among the winning images that beautifully showcase the seasons in Watlington. Thank you to all those who entered and to our wonderful local business sponsors of each month. We hope that everyone enjoys this very special calendar.”

The calendar costs £9 and is available to buy from the library, the Granary Deli and Watlington Fine Wines.

The contributors are as follows: January: Snowy Watlington Hill by Marie-Claude Jourzac; February: A Crisp Morning at the Allotments by Kate Howard; March: Church Blossom by Angela Jacob; April: Spring Walk by Ash Cudlipp; May: White Mark on the Hill by Hazel Lotuses; June: High as a Kite by John Norris; July: Sunset over Poppies by Helen Evans; August: Where the Wild Flowers Bloom by Samantha May; September: Hello Sunshine by Jo Aherne; October: Autumn Bliss at St Leonard’s by Dawn Seston; November: Warm Scudding by Simon Tilley; December: Rose-tinted Trees by Ty Young.
