New ways to treat ugly veins

THE Royal Berkshire Vein Clinic provides specialist treatment of all vein problems affecting the legs and face. All procedures are evidence-based to provide the best cosmetic and functional results.

The clinic is based at 22 Bath Road in Reading. Outpatient procedures are carried out there, while operating lists are at Spire Dunedin Hospital. Timothy Magee is a consultant vascular surgeon who is based at the John Radcliffe and Royal Berkshire Hospitals and is a member of the Vascular Society. He has been a consultant for 18 years. Mr Magee has a special interest in venous disease and sits on the council of the Venous Forum of the Royal Society of Medicine.

The aim of all vein treatment is to give the best cosmetic result but also relieve associated symptoms. Varicose veins are treated primarily with endovenous laser treatment and removal of the veins. Spider veins are injected and facial veins are best removed using Veinwave. Doppler ultrasound scanning identifies the underlying cause of vein problems, reducing the risk of recurrent varicose veins, and allows targeted venous laser therapy.

The initial consultation and all treatments are carried out by Mr Magee.
