Give squash a try

WHY not try squash this summer holiday? It’s a fast and exciting racket sport that can be played all year round. What’s more, England currently boasts both the men’s and women’s world champions.

Henley has its own thriving junior squash club ( with more than 60 members who play at a range of levels, from fun to national. The club offers a programme of after-school coaching, junior leagues, turn-up-and-play sessions, and fun tournaments. The club is also hosting taster sessions for potential new members on Wednesday, July 30 and Wednesday, August 27 at the Henley Leisure Centre.

There will be a session for primary school pupils from 9.30am to 12.30pm and one for secondary school pupils from 1.30pm to 4.30pm each day. Expert tuition will be provided by head coach, Ross Gore. Thanks to the generous support from Invesco Perpetual’s community support programme, the cost is only £5 per child per session. Squash rackets and goggles are provided.

THIS year the Madelaine Kelly School of Dancing summer dance course takes place from July 28 to August 1 at the Loddon Hall, Twyford.
