Healthy mind, healthy body

RECENTLY I have encountered several new challenges with clients — but instead of physical they have all been to do with developing their positive mental state.

Life throws up challenges every day, both mental and physical. But how well do we deal with them? Top athletes will tell you that their mental state could be even more important than being physically ready.

When you want to take control of your health it’s important to make sure it’s at the forefront of your focus. Doing lots of physical activity such as lifting weights is all very well, but if you keep slipping back mentally into bad daily habits then you will never take charge. The true meaning of wellbeing is being aware of your physical, mental and social states — if one is out of sync then look at yourself and decide what your priority is.

When you decide to change something about your life, you need to ensure that you’re ready to take the challenge. Over the years I have met many people who say to me: “How do I lose weight?” or “How can I look like the person I used to be?” The answer is you! If you want to seriously change how you feel or how you look to yourself, you have to change not only your physical being but also change the focus of your mind.
